ThinManager 6 Launch & Training - April 16-18, 2012
This event will launch the most significant version of ThinManager ever released and is designed to offer the maximum hands-on experience for those seeking training on ThinManager. This year's event will offer two types of training—one covering the major functionality of ThinManager and another that offers virtualization training as it relates to industrial computing with ThinManager and terminal services. The standard training classes will be offered with a focus on specific HMIs—one for Wonderware, one for GE and one for Rockwell.
There will also be vertical application presentations, ROI presentations featuring the new ThinManager ROI Calculator and presentations featuring ThinManager mobile management capabilities. All of these are intertwined with a large Expo space called the "Launch Pad" that will be open for the entire event. The Launch Pad will feature multiple vendors offering industrial products as well as a ThinManager "Mission Control" area that will show off all of ThinManager's functionality within the expo area.
Those who follow the hands-on training tracks will receive updated ThinManager Training Certificates. These courses provide each participant with a ThinManager laptop running terminal services & ThinManager, a dual-monitor thin client with two monitors and a keyboard and mouse. This is truly a hands-on training event.

ThinManager
& Citrix
|
Over the past 12 years one of the top questions our customers ask us is, "Where does ThinManager begin and end when it comes to running in a Citrix environment?" Although the vast majority of our users run in a Microsoft Remote Desktop Services environment, we felt it was time to set the record straight.
ThinManager version 6.0 adds a brand new firmware with enhance support for Citrix functionality. Don't miss this first time opportunity to see what we have done to increase the compatibility between our products. |

Each student will have a laptop with ThinManager 6, a MultiMonitor thin client with dual monitors, and access to terminal servers and IP cameras. The students will follow the instructor and create an entire thin client system from scratch, integrating all the current components and features of ThinManager.
Hour One - Configuration
Students will create a basic ThinManager thin client system. They will:
- Define Terminal Servers
- Define Display Servers
- Configure their Terminal
- Deploy applications with AppLink
- Deploy multiple sessions with MultiSession
Hour Two – Display Clients
Students will explore the power of the Display client with:
- Failover
- Instant Failover
- SmartSession load balancing
- Queuing
- MultiMonitor
- IP Cameras
- Terminal Shadowing
Hour Three - Security
Students will apply security techniques using:
- Terminal Server Security Groups
- TermSecure
Hour Four – Latest Developments
Students will explore the latest developments:

| VIRTUALIZATION TRAINING |
In this Hands-On Virtualization lab, students will learn the basics of virtualization technology, as well as how to use ThinManager to take further advantage of the virtualization benefits. They will be presented with information on VMWare's ESXi and vSphere products, and how ThinManager can connect and manage some properties of the VMWare system. They will also learn how to create Virtual Machines on their own, and how to then make use of those Virtual Machines in their own ThinManager environment, making them available to their own thin clients.
The introduction will show virtualization as a technology, highlight some features that benefit our customers, and demonstrate how ThinManager can be used to take further advantage of the technology.
- ESXi and VSphere Client interfaces
- Creation of new VM from scratch / ISO
- Creation of new VM from "template"
- Creation of their own VM from "template"
- Connection of ThinManager to ESXi/vSphere
- Connecting ThinManager to ESXi / vSphere
- Creation of ThinManager virtual Terminal Servers
- Connecting ThinManager to virtual Terminal Servers
- Creation of virtual and physical workstation
- Lead students through connecting their ThinManager to virtual workstation that they created from template
