ACP worked hard in 2001 to make sure that we maintain our comfortable lead as the industrial Thin Client leader. Here are just a few of the new products heading to market in the coming weeks:
Want to run a Thin Client session on a standard PC that can be managed by ACP's ThinManager? Then simply load up ACP's latest Thin Client emulation module and connect back to a Windows Terminal Server computer. The session running on the PC will be able to run applications on the server just like a dedicated Thin Client, and will even show up on the ThinManager screen! That means that most of the features that make ACP Enabled equipment the best selling industrial Thin Clients on the market will be available to the session running on the PC, including:
Talk about an easy way to get into Thin Client computing - it doesn't get much easier than running a Thin Client directly from your standard computers!
While running an ACP Enabled Thin Client session on a full PC is great, you still have the overhead of what is usually called a Fat Client - a Thin Client computer that requires a disk drive, local OS and local support applications. Want to go a step beyond just running a session on a PC? Then use our new ThinAdapter Plus! The 'Plus' is a supported video card, opening the number of computers that can be converted to true Thin Clients to almost any PC that meets the minimum hardware configuration. Once converted, the new Thin Client uses no local storage of any kind, and can be simply switched on and off without affecting any running applications.
ACP's ThinAdapter has been used by many customers to give new life to their older industrial PCs, and that is one of the reasons that it was nominated for Product of the Year last year by Plant Engineering Magazine. But it has always had the limitation of only working with a subset of all of the video cards that are out there. That is why we have found a source for a supported video card and are now making it available bundled with our ThinAdapter card for a total list price of about $100. You owe it to yourself not to throw those obsolete PCs away until you at least investigate Thin Client conversion using ACP's ThinAdapter Plus.
If you have not been able to use the ThinAdapter in the past because of video chip incompatibilities, the ThinAdapter Plus is the product for you!
These servers will be coming to you ready to go, pre-configured and ready for ACP Enabled Thin Client connections. If you are setting up a new Thin Client system, consider this option for an easy and inexpensive way to get the entire system up and going. Once you receive the server, make a few customizations for your particular installation and you are ready to start plugging in ACP Enabled Thin Clients. Contact your ACP distributor to get the details on this time and labor saving package!
We hope that we have started to get you excited about some of our new products, and that you can't wait until next month's issue to find out a little more about what we will be announcing in the next few months. If this is the case, then drop us an e-mail and we will give you an advance peek at what is around the corner.
And remember that you can see these and much more ACP Thin Client technology at any of our ACP Thin Client forums around the country, starting with the Los Angeles session on January 21.
