Windows 2000/2003 | Windows NT 4.0

Upgrade on a Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 Computer

Upgrading from a previous version of ThinManager to ThinManager 3.2 is a simple matter on the Windows 2000/2003 platform. You do not need to uninstall the previous version of ThinManager, but can install it on top of the existing version.

Procedure to Upgrade from ThinManager 3.0 or 3.1 to Version 3.2:

• Backup your configuration file (thinmanager.db) just in case by selecting Manage>Backup Configuration from the ThinManager menu.
• Install ThinManager 3.2 using Add/Remove Programs. You do not need to uninstall the previous ThinManager version.
• Run the Configuration Wizard for the Groups and Terminals to take advantage of the new settings and options in ThinManager 3.2.

Procedure to Upgrade from ThinManager 2.4, 2.4.1, 2.5 or 2.6 to Version 3.2:

• Backup your configuration file (thinmanager.cfg) just in case by selecting ThinManager Server >Backup Configuration from the ThinManager menu
• Install ThinManager 3.2 using Add/Remove Programs. You do not need to uninstall the previous ThinManager version.
• Run the Configuration Wizard for the Groups and Terminals to take advantage of the new settings and options in ThinManager 3.2.

Procedure to Upgrade from ThinManager 2.3.1 to Version 3.2:

• Install ThinManager 3.2 using Add/Remove Programs. You do not need to uninstall the previous ThinManager version.
• Open the Terminal Server Configuration Wizard by selecting Manage>Terminal Server List. Edit each server to show the proper terminal server name and IP address in the appropriate fields.
• Run the Configuration Wizard for the Groups and Terminals to take advantage of the new settings and options in ThinManager 3.2.

he computer is now upgraded and ready.

Windows NT 4.0 Upgrade

Upgrading a ThinManager 2.3.1 to version 3.2 is a little trickier on the Windows NT 4.0 platform. A Microsoft program, Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) needs to be run and installed on the Windows NT 4.0 machine before it will accept the changes of ThinManager 3.2.

Note: Failure to run the WMI program can cause the deletion of licenses!

Procedure to Upgrade Windows NT 4.0 for ThinManager 3.2 Installation:

• Download the WMINT4.EXE from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&
  FamilyID=C174CFB1-EF67-471D-9277-4C2B1014A31E from the link.

• Install WMINT4.EXE using Add/Remove Programs.

• Reboot the machine when requested.

• Install ThinManager 3.2 using Add/Remove Programs. You do not need to uninstall older ThinManagers.

The computer is now upgraded and ready.
